Fanjoy Named General Manager; Eakin Assistant General Manager

by Ryan Eakin

GUELPH - The Guelph Royals Baseball Club is excited to announce the appointment of Adam Fanjoy as the team’s new General Manager and the promotion of Ryan Eakin to Assistant General Manager. Both will work closely to oversee the team’s day-to-day operations under the leadership of owner Shawn Fuller and manager Dino Roumel.

Fanjoy brings more than 20 years of experience in baseball, including four years as President of the Guelph Minor Baseball Association (GMBA). As a coach, he has led teams to multiple Ontario Baseball Association (OBA) championships and continues to coach the 12U AAA Guelph Royals team. Additionally, Fanjoy has a long-standing career as an umpire, serving as a member of the Intercounty Baseball League umpire crew for the past eight seasons and has been a Baseball Canada Umpire Instructor since 2010.

Outside of baseball, Fanjoy is also a dedicated secondary school teacher with the Toronto District School Board and resides in Guelph with his wife, who teaches in the Upper Grand School Board, and their two children. His deep ties to the Guelph community and his extensive experience in all aspects of the game make him an ideal fit for this role.

“I’m honoured to take on this role with the Royals,” said Fanjoy. “Baseball has given me many opportunities to work with amazing people, and I’m excited to continue that as we focus on building a championship team. I look forward to working with the entire Royals organization to bring home the club’s tenth IBL Championship title.”

Eakin, promoted to Assistant General Manager, enters his third season with the Royals after a successful career in the IBL, where he has worked for several teams, including the Barrie Baycats, Toronto Maple Leafs, and the Royals. Over his 12 seasons in the league, Eakin has worked in 11 championship finals, contributing to six championship wins with Barrie from 2014 to 2019. Outside of baseball, Eakin works as a producer and content creator at TSN, bringing his professional approach to his new role with the Royals.

“I’ve been excited to return to Guelph since our season ended in September, and I’m even more excited to take on this enhanced role alongside Adam,” said Eakin. “We share a vision for the future of the Royals and I’m looking forward to bringing my experience to help build on the success of this great organization. I want to thank the organization for their trust, and I am eager to work with the staff, players, and fans to achieve success both on and off the field.”

Together, Fanjoy and Eakin will work to elevate every aspect of the Royals experience as they prepare for the 2025 season. Enhancing the fan experience, expanding community engagement, and building a team capable of competing for a championship are top priorities for the new management duo.
