Morro Returns to Royal City for Fourth Season
GUELPH - The Guelph Royals Baseball Club is excited to announce the re-signing of All-Star shortstop Conner Morro.
Morro, 27, will suit up for his fourth season with the Royals in May after spending his first three seasons in the IBL with the Barrie Baycats.
In 2024, the Canadian shortstop batted .289, while walking more (7) than striking out (5).
He followed up his successful regular season with a dominant postseason, where he batted .385 as a staple in the two-hole.
In total, the three-time IBL champion has batted a lifetime .324 with 17 home runs in 205 career games.
Morro said he is looking forward to having the chance of going on another deep playoff run with the Royals in 2025.
"I'm very excited to be back in Guelph this year. Having Dino [Roumel] and the majority of last year's team back made the decision to keep playing very easy. I'm looking forward to helping the team take it one step further this summer and bringing an IBL championship back to Guelph."
Royals assistant general manager Ryan Eakin said having Morro back is a game-changer for Guelph.
"I have watched Conner since he came into the IBL with Barrie back in 2016 and I have always held the opinion that he is one of the more important players in the league. Having a local, All-Star calibre shortstop is not a common thing in this league, so we are so lucky to have Conner return. He is a true leader on this team and someone we rely on heavily in the locker room"
