Royals Add Kennedy to Pitching Staff

by Ryan Eakin

GUELPH - The Guelph Royals Baseball Club is excited to announce today that we have signed southpaw pitcher Jared Kennedy for the 2023 season.

Kennedy, 25, joins the Royals after pitching for the Canisius Golden Griffins from 2016 to 2019.

In that timespan, Kennedy, who is now the pitching coordinator for the Ontario Blue Jays, went 6-4 with a 3.82 earned run average in 47 career games pitching.

The Calgary, Alberta native, who also pitched in the Western Canadian Baseball League during his collegiate career, expressed his excitement about signing with the Royals.

"I'm extremely fortunate and excited to get the opportunity to pitch again. I'm looking forward to doing whatever I can to bring a championship to Guelph."

Royals manager Dino Roumel said Kennedy will be an important addition to the Royals pitching staff.

"We are happy to have Jared here this year. He gives us another quality arm. Aside from having good velocity from the left side, Jared is also a great guy in the clubhouse and a student of the game who is passing that knowledge on to younger players. Welcome to Guelph!"
