Royals Bring Back Pitcher of the Year Kush

by Ryan Eakin

GUELPH - The Guelph Royals Baseball Club is excited to announce the re-signing of the 2024 IBL Pitcher of the Year, Jacob Kush.

Kush, 25, joined the Royals in 2024 after pitching professionally in the Frontier League in 2023.

In his first season with Guelph, the local native posted a league-best ERA of 1.47 before recording a 2.10 ERA in the postseason.

In total, the right-hander went 5-3 with a 1.62 ERA, while striking out 107 batters in 88.2 innings pitched.

Kush said he cannot wait to put the Royals jersey back on in 2025.

"I am super excited to sign against with Guelph this summer. Playing for my hometown team was nothing short of special. The fans and atmosphere at Hastings is one of the best in the IBL. All of us players have high aspirations for this season, with the end goal of bringing a championship back to Guelph."

Royals manager Dino Roumel also shared his excitement to have his ace return in 2025.

"I had tried to get Jacob into a Royals uniform for three years and when we finally got him last year, it was well worth the wait. In my mind, there's no question that he is the best right-handed pitcher in the league. We are so excited to have him back."
